Pet FerretYes. It's flu season and ferrets are susceptible to infection from both influenza type A and B viruses. Although all ferrets are susceptible to influenza, the disease is more severe in young and older pets.

Just like in people, influenza causes upper respiratory disease in ferrets. The virus is transmitted by aerosol droplets from ferret to ferret, or from human to ferret.

Treatment is supportive care in uncomplicated cases.

Prevention is key! Any human with a respiratory infection should minimize contact with their pet ferrets, and wash hands thoroughly before changing food, water, and bedding.
